Hi there, Players! Welcome to my 1st Yoto Card Review! One of the main draws to the Yoto for me was the large amount of Roald Dahl content it has. One of my favourite Roald Dahl books is The Enormous Crocodile. In this article, I will discuss whether the card is worth your valuable cash.

Content Quality
The story, as can always expected from Roald Dahl, is very good. Here is a rough summary:

The story begins in Africa where the Enormous Crocodile decides that he would like to eat a real human child for lunch. As he goes into the town, he meets other jungle animals, Humpy-Rumpy the hippopotamus, Trunky the elephant, Muggle-Wump the monkey, and The Roly-Poly Bird. The Enormous Crocodile brags about his “secret plans and clever tricks” to them. The four jungle animals are all horrified at the enormous crocodile, and decide to do something about it.
The Enormous Crocodile tries very hard to catch a child for his lunch, but he fails time and time again. Refusing to give up on his hunger-driven task, the enormous crocodile finally goes to “the picnic place”, located in a woodland area just outside the town. Nobody is there, so the Crocodile disguises himself as a bench. Eventually, some kids are going out for a picnic, show up and want to sit at the table the enormous crocodile is hiding. However, the Crocodile is discovered by Trunky from the jungle and tells the four siblings that the Enormous Crocodile is not a bench and that he wants to eat them up.

Trunky marches through the Picnic Place and he picks the enormous crocodile himself up by his tail with his trunk and states to the Crocodile that he, the Roly-Poly Bird, Humpy-Rumpy, and Muggle-Wump have “all had quite enough of (his) clever tricks”. Then, Trunky catapults him through the air and crashes into the hot hot sun, where he is “sizzled up like a sausage”.
Overall short and simple, yet effective. Yoto says this card is for ages 5-7. I would say this age rating fits well enough, but the card could probably hold a much older kid’s attention well. I would say a much more fitting age rating would be ages 6-12.
I will give it a 9 out of 10.
Narration Quality
As usual, Stephen Fry did an amazing performance and really lends himself well to the story. There is some music and plenty of sound effects to enhance the story.
I will give his narration a 10 out of 10.
Value For Money
The Enormous Crocodile card is very short compared to a lot of Yoto cards, so below I will give you a comparison of prices for the Enormous Crocodile Yoto card, and other places where you can get the audio if you were going to make a Make-Your-Own card with it.
| Purchase Location | Price of Audio (in CAD) |
|---|---|
| Yoto | $8.99 or 1 Club Credit |
| Audible | $10.00 or 1 Credit |
| Google Play | $10.95 |
| Libro.fm | $11.00 |
| Audiobooks.com | $11.00 |
| Spotify | $9.49 |
(It is also worth noting that there is a Tonie for The Enormous Crocodile that contains the Stephen Fry audio available for $19.99 USD.)

By looking at the data, it appears that the Yoto card is the cheapest method of obtaining the audio.
The card is definitely shorter than a good amount of the content available in the 8.99 price range, but you can definitely get your money’s worth.
I would give it a 10 out of 10 in Value For Money.
Annoyingness Quality
This card is not annoying. Stephen Fry’s narration, as usual is very good and the content itself is well written and well told. If your kid decides he really likes this card, you might have a few weeks before it starts to get annoying. Maybe a 7 or an 8, I’m going to go 7 out of 10.
Final Verdict
| Recording Quality | 8 out of 10 |
| Content Quality | 9 out of 10 |
| Narrator Quality | 10 out of 10 |
| Value For Money | 10 out of 10 |
| Annoyingness Quality | 7 out of 10 |
| Final Point Count | 44 out of 50 |
This card is a standout addition to any Yoto collection. Despite its shorter runtime, the price point and entertainment value make it an excellent addition to any Yoto library. If you are looking for something to have on a road trip, or as a stocking stuffer, ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ Yoto card is a must-have. And that’s the truth.
